The Smoke Wagon Blues Band is:
Corey Lueck (Oakville) on harp and vocals, Mike Stubbs (Burlington) on lead and rhythm guitar, Skot Silverthorn (London) on bass, Scott Pritchard (Oakville) on piano and B3, Gaven Robertson (Hamilton) on skins. Collaborations between new and old members of the band produced a fun acoustic blues project called Smoke Wagon Blues Number 36. To everyones surprise the album earned rave reviews from Maple blues magazine, The Hamilton Spectator, and Wanted Dead or Alive, not to mention placing runner up in the Toronto Blues Society's new blues search of the same year. |
Don't Forget to Boogie!
Lead vocalist and harp player Corey Lueck took the summer of 1999 off to taste the southern blues, playing along side famous New Orleans piano legend Johnny Gordon at Lafayette Blacksmith shop on Bourbon street New Orleans Louisiana. And blues hot spot juke joints such as Sarah's Kitchen in Clarksdale Mississippi. |
Jump on the wagon and keep on Smoking it !
The band has become fan favorites in Hess Village Hamilton Ontario performing songs by classic acts such as Muddy Waters, Elmore James, Sonny Boy Williamson, and T-Bone Walker to name a few. The Bands Toronto debut at the famous Black Swan in 2001 was so well received it earned the band a blues spot light on the 89.5 FM Blues hour, and an invitation to the Amsterdam Blues Festival. The Bands first electric progressive blues project Low Down Righteous Blues was released in late 2001 to a jam packed live boogie at Hamiltons home of the blues "The Mermaid's Lounge". The album was very well received and earned the band respectable reviews by The Hamilton Spectator, The Burlington Post, and Canadian Blues.ca. Because of its honesty and raw live sound the album also earned the band a great fan base and radio play through out Canada and Europe. The Low Down!
Since the release of Low Down Righteous blues the band has preformed at venues from Brantford to Port hope and even as far as Port Carling, and Kearny Ontario. This past year the band has had the honor of performing at the National Ski Championship in Collingwood Ontario, Jeff Healy's Ride for Sight at the Wolfs Howl in Mississauga Ontario, and a highlight for the band this season was the very special honor of opening for one of their influences: the one and only "Ronnie Hawkins" in front of 50,000 people at this years Sound of Music Festival. This winter the band is working hard on their next blues project due sometime in the New Year. If this coming season is as rewarding as the last we should be knee deep in the blues and that's a good thing. Thanks for listening and keep your stick on the ice! The Smoke Wagon Blues Band |
